Bula Vinaka!
(“Bula vinaka” is a Fijian greeting that means “good health” or “good life”. It’s a warm welcome that’s often used to extend the greeting “bula,” which means “hello” or “welcome”.)
Welcome dear friend! We are delighted you decided to stop by our

Trip Information
General Itinerary
As a group we endeavor to fly from San Francisco (SFO) on Saturday night into Nadi (NAN) landing on Monday morning (we loose a day) International Airport together. After passing through customs we will board a chartered bus which will transport us to a local church who will supply a lovely breakfast meal for us. Then, a three hour drive on the scenic Queens Highway to Pacific Harbour where our accommodations, (each room accommodates 2-4 people) the Yatu Lau Lagoon Hotel and Expo site are located. Transportation costs on island to be determined.
If you fly separate from the group you will need to make your own ground transportation arrangements unless you get to Nadi the same time as the group. If you fly into Suva (SUV) then we can make arrangements to pick you up and transport you the 45 minute drive to Pacific Harbour. If you will be flying separate from the group, please send your flight itinerary to volunteer@shepcall.org (mailto:volunteer@shepcall.org) so we can plan your pick up arrangements.
Approximate Cost
A fee of $350 per person/volunteer includes your accommodations and two meals a day (breakfast and dinner). There is a restaurant at the hotel if you want to purchase a third meal. Flights from San Francisco (SFO) to Nadi (NAN) currently cost about $1,300.00 each. SALE! Through February 7th airline tickets are discounted $500.00! Please make your own flight arrangements.
Items to bring
Each volunteer working at the Health Expo site will be provided personal protection gear (gloves and masks) if needed. Medical professionals please bring your own scrubs or typical attire used when seeing patients.
Dentists, doctors and surgeons please bring headlamps for use during your procedures. The days are long and we see hundreds of patients so if your headlamps have rechargeable, swappable batteries it is very helpful.
Registration
Make sure to fill out the registration form. By filling out the form you are not making a full commitment nor are you guaranteed a spot on the team as rooms and resources are limited. Once you have completed this registration form you will be notified that your registration has been received and whether or not you have been confirmed.
Confirmations are based on date of registration and availability of space on the project. Medical professionals will be given priority as we cannot have free medical and dental clinics without their volunteered skills. Once you are accepted on the mission trip we will notify you. At that point, we suggest you make your flight arrangements, and return to this website, go to the donation page, select Fiji Mission Fund and pay the $350 per person fee.
Length of trip
We leave the USA on Saturday the 9th of August late in the evening after Sabbath and arrive on Monday early AM (we loose a day due to crossing the international date line.) We finish setting up the clinic on Monday and start seeing patients on Tuesday morning. The clinic runs through Friday late afternoon. We have a wonderful Sabbath with the local Fijians. Then, if you choose to leave on Sunday we will arrange for your transportation back to Nadi. However, if you would like to stay a few extra days, some of us will remain on island, and do some excursions like snorkeling and river rafting or visiting different areas. The cost of the excursions are your responsibility. Then, typically we will leave as a group on Tuesday the 19th arriving back in SFO on the same day! We gain a day coming home since we cross the international date line.
We hope to minister with you in Fiji!

A Short History
The original mission was to provide a free four day medical and dental expo in the coastal village of Deuba Fiji. However, the project expanded to include a secondary mission; to work toward building a permanent clinic in the underserved highlands of Fiji.
Fiji’s healthcare system faces challenges due to reduced government subsidies and a shortage of healthcare professionals. Private healthcare services are present but unaffordable for most, especially in the impoverished regions like the highlands, where access to medical care is virtually non-existent causing increased sickness, suffering and mortality rates.
In the highland village of Nakavika, a local nurse practitioner named Amelia Nairabelevu has long dreamed of establishing a clinic to serve her community. Villagers face immense challenges in accessing medical and dental care, often making arduous journeys on foot, including crossing the same river twenty-three times with no bridges to get to the coastal clinic or hospital. Pregnant mothers delivering their babies on the side of the river then bundling the newborn in a blanket and continuing the day-long hike down the mountain.
Tragically, recent deaths, including a mother during childbirth and a ten-year-old boy due to lack of timely care, underscore the urgency of their dire situation. The dear souls of the highlands have been largely forgotten.
The Shepherd’s Clinic at Nakavika aims to fulfill Amelia’s dream by building a permanent highland clinic, providing free medical and dental care, including minor surgeries and of course baby deliveries.
Our larger vision is to use the clinic as a proof of concept. We will learn exactly what is needed, how to operate the clinic and best serve the people. Then, we will duplicate the project and open additional clinics in other forgotten areas.
Please add this project to your prayer list.
Needs
As usual, funding is crucial. Your partnership to help provide basic medical ministry to thousands of highland Fijians is essential.
Medical Expo Needs
$2,000 To rent buses at night to transport people who attend our evangelistic meetings
$5,000 To purchase medical and dental supplies (left over supplies will be given to local providers who can continue help those in need)
$5,000 Donated medical and dental supplies
$12,000–$20,000 Endow a “Worthy Missionary Fund” for professionals and lay-people who want to donate their time and skills but can’t afford to pay for their own trip
$25,000 To purchase a large tent to hold the patients. The large tent will allow us to have one main stage where we can teach the waiting patients health lectures, spiritual lessons, parenting classes, cooking demonstrations, and evangelistic meetings.
Currently the camp has many tents to hold the patients and they are separated so we are not able to get to everyone and teach them.
Also, it is very expensive to rent a large tent. If we purchase our own then we will be able to save money only after 4-5 uses and have it forever. We will let the Fiji Mission freely use the tent for camp meeting and the like. They will store it for us.
